The JTA is driven to advance transportation today and for years to come. We’re expanding outreach efforts to better listen and address your transportation needs. We’re rolling out more buses and testing autonomous vehicles. We’re making ADA accessibility improvements to hundreds of stops. We’re deploying technology to reduce wait times. And streamlining the ferry. We’re even building roads, too. From new technology to improved routes and much more, we are building a comprehensive approach to a better connected Northeast Florida.
We are increasing the frequency of weekday routes 3 and 19, and weekday and weekend blue and green lines. This will improve wait times by up to 30 minutes.
The St. Johns River Ferry is a car and passenger ferry that connects Mayport Village and Ft. George Island. To enhance the ferry experience, the JTA recently earned a $15.6 million federal grant to purchase a hybrid ferry that will begin transporting vehicles across the river by 2029.

Learn moreWe have a new Best Fare Policy for MyJTA App users. Riders who purchase bus fares through the MyJTA app will automatically receive a refund after their number of rides meet the fare equivalent of a daily, three-day, weekly or monthly pass. No matter the number of rides, customers will pay no more than $65 over 31 days.
Learn MoreEveryone should be able to navigate their community and access the resources they need to live their life to the fullest. That’s why the JTA is improving ADA accessibility at hundreds of stops and counting, improving reservation services for Connexion customers and we launched the Aira Explorer Mobile App to better serve visually impaired riders.
We’re also offering customers 65 and older rides at no cost. It’s simple, riders show their Florida-issued driver’s license or a JTA Senior STAR Card to board for free.
Learn moreAlong with dozens of future-looking communities nationwide, we are studying and testing autonomous vehicles (AV) for public transit. Our current pilot programs will prepare us for a Summer 2025 launch of the Ultimate Urban Circulator (U2C), a multi-phased autonomous mobility program that will expand transportation options Downtown and ultimately connect surrounding neighborhoods to the urban core.
Learn moreThe JTA is building roads, sidewalks, bridges and more to support Northeast Florida as it grows. We make these changes to keep community members safe when they walk to school, bike to work or enjoy a stroll along the Emerald Trail.
